Organic Agriculture at Topolos: September 23, 1999
To those invited to this presentation of the Celebration, Michael Topolos of Topolos at the Russian River Vineyards explains how
biodynamic treatment of his vineyards has proved both cost-effective and healthful for the watershed. Michael has treated his vineyards biodynamically for several years, with the able assistance of Greg Willis, and reports improved yield and better quality. Some of Michael's
listeners that afternoon were astounded at certain biodynamic practices but as they learned, the spiritual works, right down into the ground and into the product, in this method of care for the earth. |

Speak your Mind! Join Action Alert Network to Promote Ecological Stewardship! To meet the demand of citizens interested in protecting the environment, World Stewardship Institute is now offering an environmental action alert service. Individuals with access to a computer can subscribe and receive, in the form of a ready-to-go letter, an easy, timely means to become effective ecological stewards. The service has great potential to influence positive ecological policies. Sample topics include global warming, toxic pollution, agriculture, wildlife management, deforestation, biodiversity, fisheries management and watershed restoration. Individuals subscribing to the service are e-mailed two to four action alerts each week or more when urgent action is needed. Ultimately, letters can be read, refined, and sent by you in a matter of minutes. Letters received by decision makers generally receive the same quantitative weight, as if hundreds of citizens share the same belief yet did not take the opportunity to voice their opinions. The e-mail action alert service is available free to WSI members donating $50 or more. For others, a two-month free trial is available. After the two-month trial, a donation of at least $25 is requested. Donations of $50 or more are matched by the Chairman of the Board for World Stewardship Institute. Those interested in subscribing to the e-mail alert service may do so by calling the WSI office at 573-3160 or sign-up through the World Stewardship Institute web site at WWW.ECOSTEWARDS.ORG. WSI is a 501(c)(3) organization. Your contributions are tax-deductible. |

| The U'wa Tribe has been driven to contemplate mass suicide as an environmental protest. Occidental Petroleum, the Los Angeles-based corporation which was responsible for the Love Canal disaster in New York in the 1970's, has recently been given the go-ahead by the Colombian Government to drill for oil on the traditional land of the U'wa people of the Sierra Nevada de Cocuy cloud forest. Occidental's other Colombian oil venture has been environmentally and socially devastating, and the U'wa have vowed to commit mass suicide if this project goes through.'
