Our River, Our Home

Our river remembers

When she first came through Guerneville

small and lonely

Our river remembers

All her adventures from the mountains to the Pacific Ocean

As she raced through our town on her way.

Our river remembers

When the rains came and made her flood

When she carried trees and houses with her to the sea.

Our river remembers

When trees leaned over and gave her shade

When fish tickled her feet

And children swam and splashed from high rope swings.

Our river dreams

About clean water without pollution

And about more and more ducks, salmon, and otters playing

in her arms.

She is

Our river, our home.
